Star Cinema has announced that the highly anticipated romantic comedy “My Love Will Make You Disappear,” starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, will premiere on March 26 instead of Feb. 12.

The production company emphasized that the change comes as part of the studio’s effort to expand its global reach, particularly in the North American market.

“The move comes in light of new developments and exciting opportunities to expand into the North American market,” read the statement in part.

The distribution company noted that it is collaborating with a global theatrical distributor and award-winning international entertainment marketing agency “in bringing the beautiful story to even more viewers.”

The statement comes after fans have taken to social media to express their frustration over the rumors that the movie received a new release date without reportedly informing the actors.

The rumors began after a photo from SM Cinemas circulated on social media, which indicates that the film would premiere in April instead of Feb. 12, alarming the fans who have allegedly already booked tickets for the original release date.

The rumor escalated after Avelino shared a cryptic post alluding to his “what if” of not finishing a particular film. The actor has also reportedly removed all the promotional materials related to the film from his Instagram page.

Avelino and Chiu have also reportedly unfollowed the Instagram account of Star Cinema following the rumors. But it is not clear whether they were following the company’s page in the first place.

“My Love Will Make You Disappear” is set to mark Chiu and Avelino’s first big-screen collaboration after headlining the Philippine adaptation of the K-drama series “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” and starring in the TV series “Linlang.”
