While Andres Muhlach acknowledged that he’s part of the prominent Muhlach clan, he said he doesn’t want to delve too deeply into it, as he’s simply grateful to have parents who support him.
The 23-year-old Andres is the son of the 1990s matinee idol Aga Muhlach and Miss Universe Philippines 1994 Charlene Gonzales. He is also the twin brother of “Eat Bulaga” host Atasha Muhlach and is related to showbiz greats Amalia Fuentes and Niño Muhlach.
Yet Andres said he doesn’t want the public to see him merely as a nepo baby. “I try not to think of it as anything. I wouldn’t say it’s a compliment and I wouldn’t say it’s a mean thing as well,” he said during the press conference of the web drama “Ang Mutya ng Seksyon E.”
The actor also pointed out that his surname is “out of [his] control” and would rather focus on being grateful for having good parents.
“Either way, no matter where we’re born, you’re not able to choose where you’re born and it’s out of my control. But more than anything, I’m really grateful that I have loving parents who are always there to support me above anything else,” he said.

Aside from his main character in “Da Pers Family,” Andres is one of the leads of the web drama “Ang Mutya ng Seksyon E,” which is based on the Wattpad novel of the same name. It is directed by Theodore Boborol and also stars Ashtine Olviga and Rabin Angeles.
“The chemistry from Day 1 with the three of us, and everyone, I felt comfortable. I know as well they felt comfortable after a while,” he said of his co-leads. “It was all the right things coming together.”
Andres also shared that he enjoys sharing his filming experiences with Aga and Charlene. This enjoyment is reflected in Andres’ work ethic, as Boborol recalled that the young actor would take time to study his character, create group chats with his co-stars to know them beyond the cameras, and host bonding activities with the cast.
“I like to always share how my day went, how the sequences went, and the things I learned that day. I enjoyed telling them those things because they can relate and they can share their experiences,” he said.
Andres, along with his parents and twin sister, inked a contract with TV5 for “Da Pers Family” in January 2024. He eventually signed with Viva Artists Agency in April of the same year.
