Sandara Park is hosting “Be the Next: 9 Dreamers,” a South Korea-Philippines joint survival show where 74 contestants will compete for a spot in an upcoming nine-member boy group.
A collaboration between MLD Entertainment and TV5, the new survival show will be broadcast on the Kapatid Network on February 8. Participants were narrowed down to 74 after a series of auditions in 2024, per reports.
Aside from Park, EXO’s Chen, HORI7ON’s Vinci, Bang Ye-dam, Momoland’s Hyebin, and AB6IX and Wanna One member Park Woo-jin will be the mentors.
South Korean choreographer Bae Wan-hee and music producer Bull$EyE will also join the show as a dance mentor and main producer, respectively.
The show is co-produced by MLD Entertainment, which is home to global pop group HORI7ON, P-pop group New:ID, K-pop girl group Lapillus, South Korean rapper Cheetah, JT&Marcus, CocaNButter, and Narin.
The music label was also the home of Momoland, which disbanded in February 2023. The girl group was best known for their hits “Bboom Bboom” and “Baam.”
Details about the survival show’s concept, format, and ranking system are yet to be announced, as of this writing.
HORI7ON and New:ID came from the 2022 survival show “Dream Maker,” with the former’s members emerging as the winning contestants.
On the other hand, New:ID was made up of contestants who lost a debut spot, but were given a second chance by MLD Entertainment.
