Ylona Garcia disclosed that she was among those who had evacuated their homes as the raging wildfires in Los Angeles, California, continue to spread.
The Filipino-Australian singer-actress gave an update on her situation through her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
“Evacuated Los Angeles a couple days ago and have been trying to wrap my head around everything that’s been happening,” she wrote. “I’m sorry that all I can do right now is pray for everyone affected by these fires.”
“Regardless, my prayers and heart go out to you,” she said.
Garcia did not immediately give further details on where she evacuated, and on what happened to her house.
Garcia, who rose to fame in 2015 as a housemate of the reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother,” left the country in 2020 to return to Australia. She then relocated to Los Angeles, saying in a 2022 interview that she was “staying [there] for good.”
Aside from Garcia, US-based Filipino artist Iñigo Pascual said he and his family had evacuated their home due to the wildfires.
Another Filipino celebrity, actress Lovi Poe, also witnessed the disaster while staying in her Los Angeles home.
“In times of devastation, like the one we’re witnessing, it’s hard to find the right words,” Poe said.
