Park Hyung-sik finds himself in the middle of a corruption and embezzlement scandal in a major conglomerate in the upcoming Korean series “Buried Hearts,” which is set to be released on February 21.

Park’s casting in the upcoming series was announced in a press statement on Thursday, February 6, where the actor will star as Seo Dong-ju, a “morally ambiguous executive” who is determined to prove his dominance in the fictional Daesang Group.

“Buried Hearts” revolves around the Daesang Group being accused of “mismanagement [of government funds], embezzlement, and corruption” after getting involved in a controversial energy project. One of the suspected masterminds was a corporate security who was accused of hacking into the company in an attempt to take ₩2 trillion worth of funds.

This scandal becomes an opportunity for Seo Dong-ju (Park) to resort to blackmail, bribery, and manipulation in hopes of saving Daesang Group and to assert himself as one of the company’s assets.

The series also stars Huh Joon-ho, Lee Hae-young, and Hong Hwa-yeon, and it will be directed by Jin Chang-gyu who’s best known for his work in the dramas “Military Prosecutor Doberman” and “Bad Papa.”

Park started his entertainment career as a member of the K-pop boy group ZE:A in 2010 until their disbandment seven years later. While he made cameo appearances in K-dramas in the same year, he made his acting debut in 2012 in the special drama “I Remember You.”

The actor is also known for his lead roles in “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth,” “Strong Girl Bong-soon,” “Happiness,” and “Doctor Slump.”
