‘Sobrang Latina’ Max Collins/ARMIN P. ADINA
Kapuso actress Max Collins has been trending for her stint as judge in the “Sexy Babe” segment of the noontime show “It’s Showtime,” even earning the current buzzword “Sobrang Latina” among viewers and the hosts.
Collins found it to be such a compliment that it gets her all giddy, she told INQUIRER.net in an interview at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City for a recent launch of a personal care product.
“It’s so nice na na-appreciate nila ako, and parang people see me as ‘Latina’ (It’s so nice that they appreciate me, and as if people see me as ‘Latina’),” she shared, adding that she has been planning to do the makeup trend as well.
Collins said she and her team did not expect such a warm reception for the gig. “I’m just so blessed and really happy about it. We just did it for fun. And the fact that the people noticed it, like, wow, it’s a different kind of happiness because our hard work finally paid off,” she said in a mix of English and Filipino.
She credits her videographer Joshua Salva for the “pasabog” (gimmicks) during her “Sexy Babe” appearances. “He deserves all the recognition, he’s just killing,” she said.
Collins said it never occured to her that she would ever love being a judge. “It’s so much fun. And I love seeing new contestants. And just the energy of the whole ‘It’s Showtime’ studio, it’s so positive and happy. I’m so happy to be there,” she shared.
The actress and mother to a four-year-old son also underscored the need to be ready for “accidents” when traveling to overseas destinations, which is so frustrating.
“Those times when you really need a bidet, ‘tapos walang tubig (and then there is no water). Oh my gosh, super, that’s the worst talaga (really),” Collins shared. “At least there’s a wash that, even if you can’t wash it off, the antibacterial properties will somehow help you. That’s the worst case scenario. But it’s so comforting to know that you can also be protected down there,” she added.
Collins said that mothers share information with one another about new discoveries, because “hygiene is life” for Filipinos.
“Bilang mga Pinoy tayo, important para sa ating lahat ang ating feminine care (As Filipinos, feminine care is important for all of us), but we also forget about our bum care,” she said.
