Amid the ongoing legal tussle over his movie “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma,” film director Darryl Yap released a new trailer of the movie, saying its premiere in local cinemas will proceed on February 5.

The new trailer was shared on the director’s Facebook page on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

It begins with Rhed Bustamante, who portrays the role of the late sexy actress, walking alone with smudge makeup and speaking in the background about how desperate she is to do anything to earn money.

It then shows her mother, played by Shamaine Buencamino, shouting in anger and warning against individuals who supposedly treat them inhumanely.

The clip also includes snippets from actual interviews of the production with Paloma’s mother and brother.

“THE TRAILER OF THE TRUTH,” the caption said. “Para sa ika-40 anibersayo ng kamatayan ni Pepsi Paloma.”

“February 5, cinemas only,” it added.

Aside from Bustamante and Buencamino, other cast members include Gina Alajar, Mon Confiado, Beverly Salviejo and Rosanna Roces.

The trailer release came amid the ongoing hearing on the cyberlibel and habeas data cases filed by Vic Sotto against Yap over the initial trailer that portrayed the veteran TV host as an alleged rapist of the late ’80s sexy star.

In turn, Yap’s camp filed a motion for the issuance of a gag order, which was later issued by the court on them and Sotto’s camp.

The filmmaker also filed a motion seeking to consolidate the habeas data civil case and the cyber libel complaint, which is still pending before the prosecutors. This motion was rejected by the court.
