Heart Evangelista recalled a time she fainted at a Fashion Week event, noting that it had something to do with putting too much pressure on herself at work just to earn money for things she wanted to spend.

Evangelista looked back at the incident on the January 18 episode of her reality show “Heart World,” saying she’s the type of person who works extremely hard to earn money for her purchases. She was joined in the show by her husband, Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero, as they discussed the fashion maven’s promises to herself.

“Lahat ng mayroon ako, lahat ng suot ko, pinagtrabahuhan ko, as in talagang pinagpuyatan ko. Talagang pinilit ko ‘yan para mabili mga meron ako. But now as I get older, I really feel tired. Iba na talaga ‘yung dating sa ‘kin, kahit [sa] Fashion Week,” she said.

“Hinimatay na ‘ko sa Fashion Week kasi alam ko na nagsa-suffer na ‘yong health ko just to get the bag, just to get the jacket,” Evangelista further shared without disclosing what particular Fashion Week event the incident took place.

(Everything I have and everything I wear was a fruit of my labor. I lost a lot of sleep for them. I pushed myself to work hard to buy what I had. But now as I get older, I really feel tired. It feels different now, even in Fashion Week. I remember fainting during Fashion Week because my health suffered just to get the bag and jacket.)

With this in mind, Evangelista said she would make it a point to “really review” her personal expenses, and wouldn’t use her job to “justify” her purchases.

“These ridiculous things na ginagamit ko naman sa trabaho ko but I will not use that anymore to justify. I will really review talaga,” she said. “Ang prinomise ko sa sarili ko kapag nag-turn ako ng 40, I will be very mindful about what I’ll put out.”

The actress-fashion maven also explained that her purchases were bought using her own money while pointing out to Escudero that there are certain claims that the latter was the one buying her luxury items.

“Meaning to say, my hard-earned money… Hindi naman sa ‘di ako gagastos. I know how it feels na magtrabaho, kumayod talaga dahil gusto ko nito. I’m lucky [and] privileged ako na ‘di naman ako naging breadwinner in a sense sa pamilya ko,” she said.

(Meaning to say, my hard-earned money. It doesn’t mean that I won’t spend. I know how it feels to work very hard because you want to buy something. I’m lucky and privileged that I am not the breadwinner of my family.)

Chiming in, Escudero explained that while he and Evangelista have a prenup, he is not the one who pays for the latter’s purchases.

“Kahit na may prenup kami, sa dulo, pareho pa rin ‘yun. Kasi kung meron siya [at] wala ako, e ‘di siya ang magpupuno nu’n. Kung wala siya at meron ako, e ‘di ako rin naman magpupuno nu’n,” he said.

“Wag niyo na akong idamay sa kalokohan niya,” Escudero added in jest.
