The spark in Jericho Rosales’ eyes was undeniable as he spoke about his blooming relationship with “Lavender Fields” co-star Janine Gutierrez, as well as her work ethics.
The actor, who confirmed his relationship with Gutierrez in August 2024, spoke of with his co-star in a “Lavender Fields” media junket with reporters, saying her professional outlook and lovable personality are among the characteristics that made him proud of her.
“Nakilala ko siya as (I first met her as) an artist. She’s very dedicated and committed to her job. She came from a line of professional actors. Not just professionals, but they’re legends in the industry and she has that discipline,” he said.
“She started late but her professionalism is so infectious and it was a good start for me. Kakabalik ko lang ulit (I just returned) and I see how she’s on fire. Aararuhin niya ang lahat ng roles na binigay sa kanya (She works on her roles diligently) and I love that about her,” continued Rosales.

Gutierrez’s professionalism is seen in how she takes on every scene with “fire,” according to Rosales. Yet despite the amount of focus she devotes on her job, she takes time to be a loving person behind the scenes.
“I love her personality, she’s a loving ate, she loves sports, she loves the craft, and we share a lot of things about the craft and anything we can digest. Not only in terms of content but also films, TV, shows, and whatever,” he said. “As a person, we really get along. It’s so light. We’re like a team. She’s fun, not just on the set but also offscreen.”
Defining happy on his own terms
While Rosales’ “rule in life” is to be happy and create happiness, he said that his romance with Gutierrez hit him by surprise, in the same way that it surprised him that it would be the reason behind his smile.
“You don’t hop into a relationship just for fun. If magunaw ang mundo ko tomorrow (If my world ends), I’m happy,” he said. “Love takes on many different forms and I wasn’t expecting Janine and I would meet and start dating, and come to a good place. It’s very light. That’s what I didn’t expect, things would be light, easy, and breezy. It’s a nice gift. It’s one of the best gifts to have last year.”

The actor also shared that aside from spending the New Year with his family, he was also invited by Gutierrez’s family to ring in 2025 with them. “I was with my family, hiwa-hiwalay kami (we’re apart), so I have to go then and there. But it’s fun.”
“I was with Janine [Gutierrez’s] family, they invited me over too. It’s a nice and cozy family thing so it’s great to have that feeling of family with different dynamics,” he continued. “They’re very sweet, loving, kind, tender, and close. They’re imperfect but perfect in a way. There’s love and acceptance, and they’re a family of artists.”
Rosales and Gutierrez sparked dating rumors in July 2024 after they were seen hanging out on multiple occasions, including a museum date in Manila and a bar date in Quezon City.
