South Korean musician Koo Jun-yup vowed to protect his wife, the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, even after her death, saying protecting her family is the “last thing” he can do for her.
Four days after Hsu’s death, Koo took to his Instagram page on Thursday, February 6, to mourn the actress’ death in both Korean and Chinese, saying he is going through a period of “indescribable sorrow and pain.”
“On Feb. 2, 2025, my angel went back to heaven,” Koo wrote. “First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those mourning for [Barbie Hsu].”
“I am going through a time of indescribable sorrow and pain where I feel like my heart is cut by a knife. I am torn apart. I don’t have the strength to say anything. I don’t even want to say anything,” he continued.

Despite Hsu’s death, Koo revealed that there are certain “devilish individuals” who are attempting to tarnish the actress and her family, without disclosing who he was talking about.
“But before this painful loss, these devilish individuals are trying to tarnish her and her family,” he said. “There are some who walk in the rain while pretending to be sad; others are trying to hurt her family by creating fake news about her inheritance and other financial matters to tarnish them.”
In hopes of protecting his late wife’s legacy, Koo said he would hand over Hsu’s wealth “entirely” to the actress’ mother and would consult legal means to protect her children as well.
“Are there such heartless people in this world? I am scared at this thought,” he said. “To the precious legacy [Barbie Hsu] left behind, all the shares she collected to protect her beloved family, I decided to give it to my mother-in-law.”
“I will [also] take legal action through lawyers to protect [her children’s rights] until they reach adulthood so that wicked people won’t touch them,” he further added.
The musician added that protecting Hsu’s family is his way of preserving his “precious” time with the late actress.
“The time I spent with [Barbie Hsu] was such a precious and valuable gift that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. I believe that protecting the family whom she loved the most is the last thing that I can do for her,” he said.
“Lastly, I would like to bow my head and say my final gratitude to those who loved and mourned for her,” he concluded.
Koo and Hsu tied the knot in 2022 after rekindling their relationship after 20 years. They were supposed to celebrate their third wedding anniversary sometime in February of this year.
The actress was previously married to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei for 10 years until their divorce was finalized in 2021. They have two children together, a 10-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.
