BCDA, PhilTower sign agreement on tower construction study

MANILA, Philippines — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Wednesday said it signed an agreement with PhilTower MIDC, to conduct a feasibility study on putting up more communication towers in key properties of the former to improve connectivity in those areas.

The BCDA said it signed the memorandum of understanding with the joint venture company of Miescor Infrastructure Development Corporation and Phil-Tower Consortium Inc. last Tuesday.

“PhilTower MIDC, with its comprehensive portfolio and deep industry knowledge, is uniquely positioned to support BCDA’s ambition to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainability within the country’s digital infrastructure,” BCDA president and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Bingcang said in a statement.

“This collaboration will create impactful solutions that enhance connectivity in high-priority areas, positioning the Philippines at the forefront of the digital revolution in Southeast Asia,” he added.

According to the BCDA, the agreement includes a pre-investment study, which is expected to take a year.

For his part, PhilTower MIDC president and Chief Executive Officer Devid Gubiani touted their expertise and expressed their commitment to advancing national development goals.

“It is a privilege to collaborate with BCDA, an organization that shares our vision of harnessing digital technology as a transformative force,” Gubiani said.

“Through this partnership, we aim not only to enhance connectivity but also to drive socio-economic growth in vital hubs such as Bonifacio Global City and New Clark City,” he stated,” the company official added.

The BCDA said that this collaboration between BCDA and PhilTower MIDC represents a significant leap forward in the country’s goal to modernize its telecommunications infrastructure.

The government-owned and controlled corporations said that advancing the country’s telecommunications infrastructure will also ensure that the Philippines remains competitive.
