Seth Fedelin might have been one of the breakthrough performers at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), but he doesn’t see himself ending his onscreen partnership with Francine Diaz anytime soon.
Fedelin was nominated for Best Actor at the 50th edition of the MMFF in December 2024 for his performance in “My Future You.” Despite not winning the coveted award, he managed to bring home the Breakthrough Performance plum.
Since then, the actor feels more ignited to move forward with his acting career. When asked how long he wants to remain in a loveteam with Diaz, he said that he doesn’t see their partnership ending anytime soon.
“Gusto kong kasama si Francine. Hindi ko masabi gaano kahaba [ang loveteam namin] pero gusto ko pa siyang kasama,” Fedelin said during a “Star Magic Spotlight” press conference in Quezon City.
“Hangga’t maaari, kapag umakyat ako sa entablado, gusto ko siya ang nand’un. Gusto ko ang pelikula namin ang dahilan ng pag-akyat namin sa entablado. Totoo lang po ako,” he added.
(I want to be with Francine. I can’t say how long our loveteam will last but I still want to be with her. As much as I can, I want to go up the stage with her. I want our film to be the reason why we’ll be recognized onstage. I’m just being real.)
Prior to “My Future You,” Fedelin said they were supposed to be part of certain projects, but it didn’t push through due to undisclosed reasons. This led to them making a pact to give their best in the MMFF 2024 entry as it would be their “portfolio” moving forward.
“Hindi kami nawalan ng pag-asa hanggang dumating ang ‘My Future You.’ Habang nagshu-shoot kami, sinasabi namin na dito kami makikita ng tao. Magiging portfolio namin ito para sa karera namin… [kaya] isinapuso namin ang buong pelikula,” he said.
(We didn’t lose hope until “My Future You” eventually came. While shooting, we told ourselves that this was where people would finally see us. We consider this as an addition to our career portfolios. This is why we took the film to heart.)

While the actor doesn’t want his love team with Diaz to end just yet, they are still open to pursuing other projects as solo actors.
“At the end of the day, pumasok si Francine [sa showbiz] as Francine. Ako rin naman as Seth,” he said.
“Si Francine ay napakasuportado sa’kin. Hundred percent siya ang nagbu-boost sa’kin,” he added. “Ngayon na natapos namin ang ‘My Future You,’ suportado namin ang isa’t isa.”
(At the end of the day, Francine entered showbiz as Francine. I entered as Seth. Francine has always been supportive. She makes it a point to boost me to a hundred percent. Now that “My Future You” is done, we are supportive of each other.)
Open to being a ‘bad boy’
Fedelin shared that he’s open to pursuing drama and action genres, noting that he wants to see himself portraying a “bad boy.” This doesn’t mean that he wants to be the villain. He just wants to take on the role of a “bad boy” as a character trait.
“Kadalasan ko kasing ginagawang role, mabait,” he explained. “Challenge para sa’kin paano maging maginoo pero [bad boy]. Anong magiging itsura ko kapag dadagdagan ng angas ang karakter? Gusto kong masubukan ang mga gan’un.”
(I always portray good boy roles. It’s a challenge for me to be a bad boy yet kindhearted. I wonder what I would be like if my character would be rough around the edges. I want to try those roles.)

Fedelin, however, clarified that he’s “very shy” off-screen. When the actor feels that his nerves will get the best of him, he tries to emulate a “proud” persona to boost his self-confidence.
“Kapag nawawalan ako ng kumpyansa, mas lalo akong yumayabang. Lalabas ako sa pintuan na parang sarili ko lang ang kakampi ko,” he said. “Minsan, sa paga-artista, kailangan mong haluan ng personal. Hindi ko tinatanggal ang pagiging ako.”
