Pauleen Luna-Sotto is grateful after the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) partially granted the writ of habeas data petition of her husband Vic Sotto against director-screenwriter Darryl Yap, in relation to the trailer of the latter’s upcoming movie “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.”
In a 20-page decision on Monday, January 27, Presiding Judge Liezel Aquiatan of the Muntinlupa RTC Branch 205 ordered the removal of the movie’s controversial trailer which supposedly mentioned Sotto’s name as the alleged rapist of the late 1980s sexy star Pepsi Paloma.
While the Court ordered the removal of “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma’s” controversial trailer from public platforms, the movie will push through with its premiere on February 5 as scheduled.
“The Court cannot suppress the entire film, as it is based on the life story of Pepsi Paloma where the respondent secured the consent of the mother and brother, derived from public records like newspaper clippings, footages and is protected by artistic freedom and public interest,” the order stated.
Following the court order, Luna-Sotto took to her Instagram page on Monday, January 27, to express her gratitude to the Lord as the decision “was in [their] favor.”
“We give thanks to the Lord for this court decision. The results are in and the outcome is in our favor, confirming that the material released was malicious in nature. We won this case,” she began while sharing a photo of herself, Sotto, and their two daughters.
“This victory is for our children and family, and we humbly lift our gratitude to Almighty God,” Luna-Sotto continued.

The host-actress hoped the court’s decision would serve as a reminder of how “words and actions have great power,” while reiterating the importance of being kind and respectful.
“Let this be a reminder that our words and actions have great power and that kindness and integrity should always guide us. Please, let us all be mindful and responsible about posting/sharing malicious content about people,” Luna-Sotto said.
“We urge everyone to act with kindness, integrity, and respect, striving to uplift one another instead of causing harm,” she further added.
